To choose a Chinese character as your tattoo or on your T-shirt can be very cool and badass, but this also can be a showcase of bravery. A lot of Chinese characters are mistranslated when it comes to tattoos. Also, unlike T-shirts, tattoos are with you for a very long time.

From only this board from six flags St. Louis, just by a glance, I find five weird and stupid translation.

*Explanation for the picture above:

#1. Princess is translated into “王女” (king’s daughter) which is hilarious, and I think I understand why. Proper translation for prince is “王子”(king’s son), and they just translated it “literally”. FYI, princess should be “公主”.

#3. “Sexy” is translated to “sexual”. I can’t imagine how people would look at you once they find out what is really means.

More examples about this in real life.

# The character on that girl’s t-shirt says “whore” actually.

# The orange background character says “shit”. Well…

# “This stupid foreigner doesn’t know about Chinese at all.” Maybe he is trying to be sarcastic. But still…

So verify with people or websites that you trust before getting a tattoo. Just take a breath and give it a second thought before you go for it.
