Generous Compliments

Yesterday, I went to the Centennial Time Capsule Installation Ceremony. It was so much fun. I was so happy that I can witness this historic moment. Thanks to Eileen, I was forced to go in the beginning due to her assignments. But I enjoyed it a lot actually.

One thing that caught my eye was the welcoming girl in Webster Hall complimenting an alumni’s dressing outfit. That young lady was in a navy blue dress and a pair of nude pumps. The dress accompany with the pumps perfectly display her body figure. I noticed the alumni’s dress as well, but the idea of complimenting another on their dressing never even occurred to me.

After complimenting that young lady’s dress, the two had a quick chat over this event. I felt a bit sorry for myself. I can be friendly by generously complimenting others as well, genuinely for sure.

Maybe it because the Chinese culture has its own reservedness. I am not accustomed to compliment others, especially strangers. Another thing to adjust to, but I am very happy to blend myself in this aspect of the culture.
